April 10th 2007 MINUTES BRANCH 709. Regular

meeting called to order by President Clancy McCarthy.

Minutes read-approved. Bills read-motion to pay-

passed.  Financial Report for March read-approved.

 

Contracting out-Clancy reported that he was notified

by Reno postmaster that 12 carrier truck driving jobs

will be abolished.  Grievances are being filed.  Congress

has been notified. This will cause many routes at the

Reno Main Office to go up for bid.

 

Clancy also reported that the Reno postmaster notified

him that he intends to abolish the GIL program and the

15 minute break.  Grievances will be filed.

 

Committee Reports-Kenny Groves- the Picnic Committee

will meet 1st week of  May.  The Golf Tournament is

going well.

 

National Contract Report given by Clancy-it is going to

Arbitration.  See E-Activist for updates.

 

State Convention Reports by Clancy, Ida McBride, Mike

Cronmiller, Pete Adams, Susan Glenn, Debbie Warner

and John Harwood.

Millbrae Steward Training report-Jose Rivera.

 

State Workman’s Comp. Report-Clancy.  Motion to

empower President McCarthy to pay up to $3200

to the state of Nevada for workman’s comp.  Passed.

 

Food drive report by Kenny Groves-Postmaster doesn’t

want to use a Postal Vehicle to transport the food

collected from the back dock of the Reno Main Office

to the Food Bank.  Motion made for the branch to

authorize the expense necessary to rent a truck on Food

Drive Day to transport food to the Food Bank unless a

Postal truck is made available.  Failed.

 

Drawing $125 R. Reigle not present-next month $150.
